My name is Maria Akore
I’m a portrait photographer all about about capturing women in all their strength and elegance.
At the age of 57, I made the courageous decision to leave my secure job and follow my dream of photography full-time. It was a big step, but it has been the most rewarding and fulfilling change of my life.
Because of this journey, I understand how powerful it can be to take time for yourself and celebrate the woman you are today.
Whether you followed a dream later in life, overcame challenges, or simply want to rediscover yourself, I would love to hear your story.

Life after 50 can be a time of incredible growth, change, and self-discovery. Yet, society often overlooks the beauty, wisdom, and strength that come with age. The Empowered Elegance Portrait Series aims to change that narrative by highlighting the vibrant, dynamic lives of women over 50. This is not just about a photoshoot; it’s about capturing the essence of resilience, courage, and grace that defines us at this wonderful stage of life.
Many women tell me they almost didn’t book because they felt nervous about being photographed.
Please know that you don’t need to be a model or feel confident beforehand. My job is to guide you every step of the way so you feel comfortable, relaxed and proud of your portraits.
By the end of the session most women say the same thing: “I've never felt so good!.” And this is why I do what I do.
My aim is to provide a luxurious, empowering photoshoot experience that makes you feel like your walking on air when you leave whilst at the same time providing beautiful portraits that you will be proud of and leave as a legacy to your family.

I am photographing 50 incredible women over 50 to celebrate confidence, resilience and individuality.
Life after 50 is often a time of growth, freedom and self-discovery, yet society rarely celebrates the beauty and wisdom that come with age.
This portrait series is about changing that narrative.
Over the past year I’ve already had the privilege of photographing several inspiring women, and their portraits and stories have been incredibly moving. Each participant’s journey is honoured through a beautiful portrait experience and inclusion in a special keepsake book.

For the special rate of £275, you'll enjoy a magazine style photoshoot in a comfortable, relaxed, and non-judgmental environment.

Each woman will be featured in and given a copy of my Empowered Elegance Portrait Book

Gallery & Community: After all 50 women have been photographed, we will host a gallery exhibition celebrating the series. This is a relaxed, inspiring event to connect, celebrate, and enjoy the portraits with wine and conversation, get to meet each other and mingle (Time and place TBA)

Your portrait experience includes two beautiful portraits, and you are welcome to purchase additional images if you fall in love with more - many women do, but it is entirely your choice.

We'll discuss how you want to be photographed and collaboratively plan your outfits and style.
2 x Prints ready for framing with corresponding digital file.
PROFESSIONAL MAKEUP
Our on-set makeup ensures you look polished and camera-ready, enhancing your
natural features and boosting your confidence for
the shoot.
REVEAL SESSION
A reveal and ordering session where you can see all your beautiful photographs and choose your complimentary prints.
SHOOT
With our fully guided photoshoot, we will capture your true essence and will spend 2-3 hours in our studio. Don't worry about posing that's my job and by the end you will need no instructions!
POST PROJECT
A gallery style exhibition showing casing one of your beautiful images.
